In the early days of the church, Advent was a time of prayer, fasting & confession. Today, Advent is more a time of preparation & expectation of the coming of the Lord. Did you know the second advent candle has 3 different themes? Faith--to indicate the faith it took for Mary & Joseph to deal with the unexpected pregnancy & the trip to Bethlehem; Peace--for the peace promised to all mankind through the coming of the Savior; & the Bethlehem Candle pointing to the Savior's birth in a manger. He is coming again. Prepare!

Deacon Joshua's Ordination Service ~ from Deacon and Lay Leader to Pastor

Deacon Joshua Justice, faithful for almost 10 years as a deacon of Covenant Bible Fellowship, is being recognized for God's call on his life and is being lifted by a presbytery of local pastors and with the prayers of attending saints to the status of Elder and Associate Pastor of Covenant Bible Fellowship.
Pastor Emeritus Charles P. Clawson, the founding pastor and Joshua's grandfather, is the officiant. Attending pastors include Mike Murray of Covenant Christian of Colonial Heights, Bruce Catron of the First Congregationalist Church of Hopewell, and Billy Robertson of Covenant Bible Fellowship of Petersburg. (It also happens to be Pastor Clawson's 86th birthday.)
