Our Membership Covenant...

Anyone wishing to join our congregation is first invited to go through a 10 Week "New Members" course.  Taking the class does NOT obligate anyone to join us in a covenant relationship, and no one is excluded from worshipping with us if they choose to not take the course but want to continue sharing their worship days with us.  We encourage anyone and everyone to go through this course, however, since it will lay out the basic beliefs to which our members ascribe and which, in turn are supported through our Covenant, which indicates the level of relationship we hope to have with each other, by choice.

Below is a copy of the document we call our covenant.  As a covenant community, we choose to treat each other as valued family in a very commited relationship as well as brothers and sisters in Christ.  We pledge our support, help, prayers, and even when needed finances to help each other as the family of Covenant Bible Fellowship.  We also pledge to help each other "stay on the straight and narrow" with a willingness to lead, guide, learn from, follow, respect, confront in love (if necessary--see Matthew 18), and try to be there for each other as much as is humanly possible.  Each member, upon entrance to the membership, is given a copy of the Covenant, who then signs it, as well as the officiating Pastor, and is welcomed into CBF as a formally recognized member.  We hope and pray that each person who chooses to formally become a part of our family finds this choice to aid in their walk with Christ.

COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe by the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD, to accept as our SAVIOUR, the LORD JESUS CHRIST, in whose blood and righteousness along we trust as the ground of our redemption, and having been buried with HIM in baptism into the likeness of HIS death, as raised in the likeness of HIS resurrection, to walk in newness of life, and having been united to HIS visible, local church we do now most joyfully and solemnly  enter into covenant with GOD and with one another as one body in CHRIST.

We solemnly promise and engage that, by the aid of the HOLY SPIRIT, we will love one another as brethren in the LORD; that we exercise Christian care and watchfulness one for another, bearing one another's burdens and thus fulfill the law of CHRIST.

We engage to maintain personal and family devotions, to search the Scriptures with all diligence, and to train up our children in the nurture and the admonition of the LORD.

We covenant that we will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together in the house of the LORD, but will regularly attend its services unless providentially hindered; that we will pray and labor for its prosperity through its doctrines, its ordinances, and its discipline.; that we will earnestly and actively endeavor to win souls to our SAVIOUR, realizing that apart from HIM, there is no hope, and that HE has left us in this world as HIS ambassadors in HIS NAME to "seek and to save the lost."

We covenant that we will regularly and systematically give of our substance, as the LORD prospers us, for the support of an evangelical ministry amongst us in our community, for the relief of the poor in our community and the spread of the Gospel in our community and in the "rest of the world"; to be just in our dealings and to walk circumspectly in the world and to be exemplary in our deportment; to remember each other in prayer, to comfort each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy and courtesy; to be slow to take offense, ready and eager for reconciliation and mindful of the teaching of our SAVIOUR to secure said reconciliation without delay.

Desiring the triumph of CHRIST above all earthly good, and joyfully hoping for HIS coming again in heavenly glory, we covenant that, by the help of HIS enabling SPIRIT, we will "seek first the Kingdom of GOD and HIS righteousness", trusting HIM to add unto us all temporal necessities and the fulness of heavenly grace.

We, as the members of COVENANT BIBLE FELLOWSHIP, do hereby covenant with GOD and each other, this day the _______ of _________, in the NAME of the LORD JESUS CHRIST and for HIS SAKE ~ AMEN.
