In the early days of the church, Advent was a time of prayer, fasting & confession. Today, Advent is more a time of preparation & expectation of the coming of the Lord. Did you know the second advent candle has 3 different themes? Faith--to indicate the faith it took for Mary & Joseph to deal with the unexpected pregnancy & the trip to Bethlehem; Peace--for the peace promised to all mankind through the coming of the Savior; & the Bethlehem Candle pointing to the Savior's birth in a manger. He is coming again. Prepare!

We are equally eager to teach and share at church or in a location of your choice. For example, Pastor Josh can often be found online through Facebook (he is our online minister and currently lives in California) and loves to help others learn about applying the Word to your life. On Saturdays, Elder Vanessa Justice is usually at the church at 135 Monroe, Petersburg, for prayer and is available for individual or group Bible Study. Elder Phil is usually with her when his Gideons ministry does not have him elsewhere. Elder Vanessa loves to do online teaching and both will happily come to your home.
The Word of God is so important that we are willing to do what it takes to give you the help and information you need. We love those truthseekers!
NOTE: As with all studies, use what study tools you can to rightly divide the Word. Be a Berean, & recognize that sometimes folks will disagree on what they think they see or know in the Scriptures. Use history. Use context. Use research. Answer the question Jesus asked the scholars of His day--"How do you read it?" Don't just take someone else's teaching as the final truth. Read the Word for yourself, pray for wisdom from above, & study to show yourself approved. editor

The Search For Truth A multi-week in home study which can be led by one of the elders, Pastor Chuck or one of our deacons. This is a foundational study which will provide careful indepth information across the spectrum of the Bible itself. It can be as short as twelve weeks, or, if you are a serious truth seeker and ask lots of questions, it can take a year... one of our studies did just that!
The Way of the Master a personal evangelism & self-grounding study by Ray Comfort & Kirk Cameron. Just a thought on how to study... be careful to not be taken in by "reconstructionism"...
Alpha Omega Studies For years Pastor Chuck led studies through the Bible on a very fundamental level which took us step by step through the Bible, often verse by verse, on Sunday evenings. (Pastor Clawson has a Master's Degree in Logistics, & is a Certified Professional Logistician as well as holding certification in Christian Counseling.) Currently his health is not good, but we are putting together his, and other's, study materials on pages for each book of the Bible. You can find the ever growing library of information on this website and with it study the Bible in a unique way that includes delving into the history, the culture, and the context of the times being studied... The Anger Resolution Seminar
